Computer Won't Turn On? Start With These Checks
No power, power but no display, and startup that stops early are different problems. Work through the signal and power path before assuming the whole computer has failed.
Practical checks
Start with the basics.
- Confirm the wall socket, power strip and rear power switch. Try another known-working socket if that is safe and appropriate.
- Check monitor power, input source and cable separately from the computer.
- Listen for fans, lights or beeps. Power with no display points to a different path than no power at all.
- Disconnect recently added USB devices or peripherals and try again.
- If the computer repeatedly stops at the same stage, note the stage or error and contact S-out for diagnosis.
